 i just got my Thai license 2 days ago. IDP is not required, but need certificate of residency & medical certificate.

Appointment via web with Department of Land transport is now up to Feb of 2025 this is for BKK location.

 but to get Thai license they require certificate of residency. Do not think this certificate is available for tourists.

 so for now i can transfer as much as possible, hope they do not retroactive past transfer on tax.

 so if i wire from US USD10,000 into my Thai USD account they will tax a % from it? By directly deduct from the 10,000 from the bank?

Cheapest way is not to ship any.

I tried and there is very limited company that will ship personal effect from US to Thailand. And for regular stuff its cheaper to replenish here than ship them.

How can expats in Thailand keep their US number just for 2-factor authentication?

Google voice. Check youtube search for "keep your phone number when move abroad". I port my cell # to GV for 1 year and all normal phone call & text go thru no problem. I have BOA also no problem with them for virtual #. Yr phone MUST be unlock inorder to have a local Thai #.
