Follow up to my previous question -Have a question about TM30, on a Non O retirement visa. Question is going to Bangkok for one night and staying at a hotel. Hotel will register me with TM30, do I have to check back in with local immigration office where I rent a villa in Cha Am after coming back from Bangkok. Thank you in advance

After domestic travel - Cha-Am to Bangkok, Phetchaburi Immigration wanted a new TM30 from my landlord for the house I rent yearly. Immigration insisted on a new TM30, got the new TM30 and immigration was happy. Big to do for just going to Bangkok and staying in a hotel. As the hotel scans your passport which generates a TM30. Just wanted to pass on my experience for Phetchaburi.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 reporting requirement can vary greatly between different local immigration offices in Thailand. When traveling domestically, some offices may require you to file a new TM30 upon returning, while others may not. In this case, the individual experienced a need to file a new TM30 with the local immigration office in Cha-Am after a one-night stay in a hotel in Bangkok. It is advisable to check with your local immigration office to understand their specific requirements, as enforcement can differ by region.

You mean every time I take a trip I need to go to immigration to file a new TM30? I thought landlords were responsible for filing TM 30?

@Tracy ********
that is between you and the immigration office you deal with

CHECK with your immigration office and see what their policy is on TM30's

And while the landlord technically is the person who files a TM30 believe me YOU are the one that gets fined when it's not filed or filed late 😮

The TM 30 is such a grey area!and i have come to realise because of that and my frequent domestic movements, its a waste of time attempting online reporting?🤔

As an example, I just went to get a Certificate of Residence from my local Immigration office in Mukdahan (to open a new bank account), while there they reprimanded me for not reporting back - as their system showed I had stayed in a hotel in Khon Kaen for 1 night a few weeks ago!

funny my tm30 is from there 2017 and they know I often go kk for medical treatment, just transferred that tm30 to new passport, no problems. But I've been traveling internally for meetings and medical for years. They know I spent a few weeks there when wife was extremely ill and hospitalized for specialists to figure out cause for example. Hint roll with the flow until they know you. 2008 was bad time as kept wanting more copies etc and other stuff. I smiled and complied until granted extension.

not to bothered, they actually spoke to my partner rather than me as I stay at her house so she always has to come along with her blue book. They didn’t penalize me, just told her next time I stay somewhere else I should inform them when I get back. Funny thing is I was away from Mukdahan about 10 days that time and have also stayed at other hotels on previous travels, but they only mentioned that one night stay in khon Kean - go figure 🤷🏻‍♂️

you need to check with YOUR immigration office when you get back

Some require you to file a new TM30 for domestic travel when you come back

Some require you to only file when you come in from abroad

Some require you to file only once and then not after that even if you travel

no I mean GO out there and ask on the right side of the queue desk that handles TM30 stuff before they send you to in Section B

Ask your local immigration, it changes depending on your local office - and even depending on the office chief.

As example, in Chiang Mai it's not required to fill a new TM30 if travelling inside the country, but in Lamphun it's absolutely required even if you spend just one night in a hotel - and they require all the receipts after checking it in the system.
