Non O/A visa questions. below is background

1. Date of initial Visa issued 7 Aug 2023 with insurance valid up to 27 July 2024.

1. First stamped in 24 Sept 2023 with allow to stay until 27 July 2024

1. bought new insurance up to 3rd June 2025 - leave Thailand and came back 5th June 2024.

1. got stamped in with allow to stay stamp up to 3rd June 2025.

Does this means that I do not have to do anything by means of visit Bangkok immigration to extend the Non O/A visa or switch over to Non O Visa until sometime in May or June 2025?

do not want to miss any requirement so that i cannot get a renewal later on, i am planning to stay here for the next 10 yrs.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the requirements for extending their Non O/A visa, valid until June 2025, and whether they need to switch to a Non O visa. The answers provided clarify that as long as they maintain their required financial eligibility, health insurance, and comply with 90-day reporting, they can extend their Non O/A visa without needing to switch. Additionally, they need a re-entry permit if exiting and re-entering Thailand after the original visa's expiry date.

thank you. I will keep

satisfying the financial, insurance, 90 days, and re-entry requirements and keep extend the Non OA.

Unless you are trying to avoid the insurance requirement you don’t need to switch to a non-O. You can renew your insurance and extend the OA for 1 year inside Thailand.

if you make a deposit of 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name and meet the One year health insurance requirements,...you can get a one year extension of stay of your OA based retirement.

The year extension requirements should be a message to the OP. I had an OA for 6 years and now have an LTR.

The way the OP worded his comment made me think he did not know you could extend an OA or that he thought that an extension changed an OA into an O

oh yes, and you are exactly right. I am under the impression that NON OA cannot be extended within Thailand. And only NON O can be issued within Thailand. It is good to know that it can be and you have done it multiple times. Thanks.

The only difference between the two extensions is the insurance requirement for the OA. You should talk to your insurance company about synchronizing the dates of your insurance policy with the OA extension dates.

If you're going to exit/re-enter the country after the date the visa runs out (July 27th 2024) you need to buy a re-entry permit or you will cancel your current entry stamp valid until 5 June 2025.

You just need to do 90 day reporting, renew your mandatory insurance for another year next year and apply for a yearly extension by meeting the financial requirements, turning in the required documents and paying 1900baht

You can't "switch over to a Non-O visa" inside the country you'd have to exit/re-enter the country on a free stamp entry then apply for the Non-O inside the country at the immigration office. There is no way to go from an OA to an O inside the country without exiting/re-entering to start the whole process over

I have the feeling that the OP, primarily, does ask for the requirements in case he wishes to keep the O-A visa.

As I understand from Marty Pollard‘s comment, it is possible to use the O-A visa for several years (6 years in his case) as long as the yearly insurance is renewed in time, the 90 day reporting is done and a METV has been bought.

Theoretically that would mean that a visit at immigration office would NOT be required except for the METV.

That‘s how I understand the „prolonged“ I-A visa or am I wrong?

, You can apply for a 1-year extension on Non-OA entry. For that, you need to meet the requirements including financial proof and insurance.

You go to the local immigration office at the end of the current stamp to apply for a 1-year extension, then apply for a multiple (or single) re-entry permit to travel abroad during your stamp.

So, you need to apply for an extension AND a re-entry permit to stay. Also, need to do 90 days report if you are staying in Thailand for 90 consecutive days.

METV is an abbreviation of Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, not re-entry permit BTW.
