I’m just starting to research shipping cost and auto import duties paid to Thailand which I believe is 80% of the value ? Is that accurate? I’m going to be expat towards the end of the year and I’d like to pack up everything I’d like to bring with me and put it all in the bed of my pickup and ship it,so far it looks like I can ship the truck for $5k and 80% of about $12-14k (truck value)so about $13k in cost.I have about $15k tied up in my household electronics (receiver,quality surround system,55”Sony,desktop,monitor )that I’ll get peanuts for if I sell it here and I’ll only wanna rebuy the same things when I move to Thailand,selling and rebuying a vehicle will also be needed..

Or I can skip the shipping the truck part and just ship the electronics,personal stuff in a 48”x48x60 pallet with a weight of 500 lbs for $2k via fedex

Hi, does the 5 year Elite visa allow you to bring in your container of personal effects and furniture import tax free ?? If not, why would anyone buy an elite visa ?

We concluded if we go on a retirenent visa, we cannot bring a 20 ft container of our stuff because its now v likely to trigger a large import and vat bill....they talking 30 pc to 200 pc of CIF value, crazy, so that is pretty pointless...
