@Pete ******
i do not remember if they asked, but i had all my application paper with me going thru immigration. If your insurance expire on dec 31 2025 than you will only be stamped until your insurance expire, so not 1 full year. I also lost 2 months when initially entered due to insurance.

So what you can do, before your stamp expire buy new insurance for 1 yr in Thailand, leave Thailand - go vacation somewhere close ie Singapore, Malaysia...etc. once you come back provided the same visa and new insurance to immigration. They will stamp you for another year the expiration date of yr new insurance.

This was what i did for the initial 2 yrs.

When i arrived with my OA visa, i just show custom officer the print out of the Visa and Passports. Make sure the officer know its a 1 yrs OA visa and stamp you in for 1 yr or the expiration of yr health insurance (if yr insurance runs out before the visa) before leaving.

The stamp should say O-A with a expiration date.

On my last visa extension, The immigration officer provided me a small paper stating my 90day reporting will be extened for 30 day.

Than on my 90 reporting, the officer saw the paper and mentioned, oh new visa - and everything went smooth.

If you need this account for visa extension, you may need bankbook copies to do that.

I applied my oa 2 yrs ago from us, but I think it should be the same for Canada. U need the following as I remember n additional forms listed from the embassy.

1. Oa application form.

2. Medical check form as from embassy web site.

3. No criminal record form FBI from us, not sure which agency about Canada.

4. 800k deposit at yr bank in Canada for at least 2 months. Also need bank letter for proof of these funds.

5. Insurance - I apply via axa Thailand, they have package just for oa application.

Most of the above has a time limits of 2 months when submitted for application.

After u get ur visa and arrived here, u can renew yr insurance, get a re-entry permit @ the airport leave Thailand just before yr current insurance expire and come back (before ur initial visa expire) , u will get stamp for additional 1 yr stay.

Good luck.
