Now might be a good time to convert USD to Thai baht if you have been waiting. The Baht has had a strong run against the USD since April 2025 and the USDTHB bottomed out around 31.6 two weeks ago.

USDTHB has had a strong rally up to 32.25 on 9/25 and faces a range of resistance from 32.25 to 32.50 with the next major resistance coming up about 33.50.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the recent strengthening of the Thai baht against the US dollar, prompting suggestions that it may be an opportune moment for currency conversion. Some commenters express skepticism regarding the reliability of the market conditions in Thailand, citing manipulative practices and challenges related to living expenses and exchange rates. There are also mentions of broader economic implications, including the relationship between the baht and Thailand's stock market.

I work here. Keep the baht strong! Bring it UP!

In 2022 it was around 38. I exchanged 50k usd. I should have done more.
Frank *****
True, it got close to 38, but not quite, I recall.

I never saw 38, 37.3 or 4 ,with crisp 100 dollar bills. I did the same. Not only did I make the run up but when interest rates on our ARM went up and 250 a month was all interest out of the 500 mortgage, I took that free cash and paid off the house and bam made another easy 30 k real money that I don't have to pay over the loan period.

@Mark *******
me too. Did move quite a bit to Baht, but should have done more!

Forex Technical analysis doesn't work on Thai baht, it is highly manipulated currency especially if paired with USD
Robert *****
In an honest financial world the baht would exchange at around 40:1

@Robert ****
How did you calculate that?

@Danny ******
the same way Dustin Hoffman counted cards in rainman

You think baht is strong or usd just taking a dump?

The workings of the Thai baht are a mystery to me, but the explanation that it is used as a mule currency together with the elite preferring it to remain strong for their own ends, might go a way towards explaining things?

Yes, if you listen to Luke Gromen, Andy Schectman (Miles Franklin), and others it makes a lot of sense of how the US is driving down the USD, buying more gold (like BRICS countries have been for years), and will reset the USD a some point in the future to reduce/devalue the debt. The US won't let the USD rise much from here as it would hurt their plans.

DXY is at 98.50 and 100 to 101 looks like strong resistance, especially if more interest rate cuts are forthcoming.

The Bank of Thailand (BoT) has started working on measures to decrease the strength of the baht like forcing purchasing of Gold with USD and taxing those transactions.

after it crashed out in the 90s, it’s been propped up by manipulation basically. The Tom yum kung saw the baht completely fall apart until intervention. I was interesting to read about.

The USA is purposely devaluing the dollar to make more money and manipulation as well. If you bought Nvidia in April you could’ve double your money lol people are making insane moves and eventually they’ll try to bring value back to the dollar, but they want a lot more of them first 😂

both.. that’s why it’s a horrible idea
Maitin *******
Wait. The current government seems to really want to get the bath under control. USD/THB is getting better
David ******
If the Baht is rising, the stock market is falling. 🤔
John ***********
@David *****
why is that?

@John **********
that's because they know Thailand is in a recession so all their companies are worthless. Also, the baht is rising because the scammers move money in for baht to buy gold and crypto.

You could get a Thai 'consultant' who will gladly advise you in regards to how to buy a house in her name, deposit your money into her bank account etc. In regards to visas I'm sure you'll be allowed to do visa runs to Cambodia or Laos for a few hours each time.

@Mark ********
watch your wording! What you emphatize is not a "visa run". It is just a "border run". A visa run is something you do enter a neighbour country to apply for a visa through the e-visa system of the Thai embassy. . . so much for handing out wrongly worded "barstool advice" to others
Mark *********
@Nongnuch *******
Actually I don't spend a lot of time on bar stools. It's very bad for your posture.
Mark *********
@Nongnuch *******
Thai visas are a bit of a scam. The free ones are great but once you start applying for retirement visas etc it becomes a bureaucratic nightmare. At least with a visa run you get what you pay for. Some of these farangs need to travel more anyway. Their knowledge outside their home country is appalling.

I am on retirement extensions since 17 years. It takes me 20 minutes on the bank and 25 minutes on Immigration to get issued a new 1-year extension, buy a re-entry permit and make my 90 days report, all on the same day. What's so complicated about it are the barstool heroes who make it more complicated than it actually is 😂😎😂😎
Donald **********
@Mark ********
You could also take financial advice from expat experts while sitting on a bar stool ogling these ‘Thai consultants.’
Eric **********
Not a good time.. I am losing 5000 baht / $150 a month with the sorry exchange rates, living here full time for three years.

Your FX logic cannot be applied to Thaionomics. Thailand is surround by countries with scam centers. These centers have been moving money into Thailand to buy baht to buy crypto or gold. Then, they can move that crypto to anywhere in the world.
