I have been requested by a non member friend to seek the group's guidance on an issue concerning the conversion of their existing 12 month approval of extension to stay in Thailand. The original visa granted to the holder was Non Immigrant OA on the basis of retirement.

The holder of this E o.S would now like to convert the category of his visa to that of Non Immigrant "O", thereby removing the requirement for the pre requisite Insurance.

Can any members enlighten us as to the feasibility of this change, preferably a member who has had direct experience of this type of conversion.

The IO that this request would be made through would be the Surin, Isaan office.

The holder of this extension of stay has been renewed several times without any issue.

The person would now like to not need to carry the burden of the required insurance coupled with the O A category

Hi..I am the holder of a Non Imm OA visa. I have a danish passport. My visa expire October 1...but I leave Thailand next month. I return late September and will get a year from the date I arrive...My quistions: When I leave again in January 2020 will I then be able to have a reentry permit and return in March? It would be nice if I don't have to apply for a new Non ImmOA before October 2020

Today I have extended my Non Immigrant OA for a further 12 months in Chiang Mai. I am Australian. I used the letter of income I obtained in November last year in which I declared income obtained by me from commercial loans made to a company / business in Australia, together with a letter from the borrower confirming the terms of the loan and the repayments made to me.

No Bank Documents or other evidence relating to any money’s coming from outside Thailand was asked for. The whole process took less than 30 minutes including waiting time.

I have just been to immigration at Blueport, Hua Hin to advise that I have returned after being away, within Thailand, for a few days.

I was advised that this only has to be done if I leave the country and return.

I am on a Non Immigrant OA visa.

The officer that dealt with me was very polite and understanding. And, I was in and out within 5 minutes

Hi , I obtained a Non Immigrant OA Visa in Australia prior to arriving in Thailand with the intention of retiring here . Visa was issued on 3 Aug 2017 & I arrived on 14 Sept . I have been told if I leave Thailand & re-enter before the 2nd Aug I will be stamped in for an additional year . Others have told me I'm better off going for a 12 month extension before the 13th Sept . I'm just hoping to find the easiest way of extending my time here without additional paperwork & immigration issues . Eventually I plan on gaining a " retirement visa " within Thailand which I've been told can be extended yearly . Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated . PS . I am living in Phuket / Chalong & dealing with Phuket Town Immigration .
