Not hijacking threads is a rule old as the Internet. Don't do it

Mostly the successful letters from other Embassies centered around how an Embassy phrased something like - all citizens are urged not to fly internationally or borders are closed, etc.

It doesn't matter that the US Embassy Health Alert has the phrases above in my post. Those phrases are not in the ACS letter. Thai Immigration will only act upon the sacred LETTER.

I am penning a letter to the US Embassy American Citizens Services who are the source of the Letters asking for language benefitting Non Imm Visa holders. An American friend of mine wrote Embassy ACS a very request letter recently emphasizing that he needed language that would help Non Imm Visa holders. ACS sent him the letter benefitting only Tourists

Garrette Greenwalds Yes the US Embassy is issuing Letters but only with fairly generic language benefitting Tourists. Non Imm Visas holders are being denied if they try to use this existing letter. Embassies of other countries used language / phrases that has been successful in getting a Covid-19 Extension for Non Imm Visa holders

The U.S. Embassy Bkk issued a long Health Advisory on March 20. In that advisory it says... "U.S. citizens normally resident overseas should avoid international travel."

Monday, I am going to send an email letter to the U.S. Embassy Bkk asking that this phrase be used in a letter on Embassy Letterhead sent to me as a PDF attachment in reply. Or to please use a stronger more definitive statement.

I will explain that I am a resident here in Thailand. Furthermore, that leaving causes a great deal of problems for me as I have serious responsibilities here.

I will also point out that I remain a citizen of the United States. Plus attach a copy of the main page of my passport. I don't want them to overlook that fact. 😉

@Oliver *******
- I think you are correct. But the uncertainty is a real big pain in the butt.

Check out AXA travel insurance as well. Might be cheaper. Covers you for your trip out of Thailand plus up to 14 days when you get back, if you catch the virus. The Emerald plan is the only plan that provides over $100,000 for medical expenses
