Not True... Each B Visa Extension of Stay last for a maximum of One Year... Then the Extension of Stay for the B Visa must be filed again for the next year's allowed stay... One can buy a Work Permit (WP) for Two Years BUT without a Current - up to date B Visa the WP is useless.
Borders being closed sure screwed up using a Non O or Non B Multi-Entry in the manner it had been used for many years. I preferred it over a B Extension mainly for the reason of not having to deal with Immigration at all. Maybe someday....
Dan Mulleary: I see you wrote that your 1 year non Imm O-A Visa will expire on December 21, 2021. But you plan on returning to the States mid August and return to Thailand Mid October 2021.
Dan, you seem to have overlooked a special beneficial provision of the 1st. Year of the O-A Visa. The O-A Visa is a Multi-Entry Visa (no need to buy a Reentry Permit) .. But far more importantly the O-A Visa is not just a One Year Visa if utilized correctly. By leaving for the States in Mid August and Returning in Mid October 2021 - When you stamp back in you will be given a Stamp dated Mid (say the 15th.) of October 2022... A full 12 months further out. This is because the O-A Visa is really not a one year Visa it is actually a two year visa when utilized correctly. You do not have to file an Extension of Stay on your O-A Visa until 30 days before Mid October 2022.
Actually I propose that this 300 Baht fee or more be added to each annual Non Imm Extension of Stay. The Pool Needs to be Wide abd Deep - replenished often.
Once upon arrival and once a year for an Extension. I have accidently left minced beef sit in the fridge to long and spoil worth more than 300 Baht.
For newbies - Prior to Covid the only Visa requiring insurance to enter was Non Imm O-A... Now under the COE everyone is required to have Covid specific coverage and general health coverage for outpatient and inpatient coverage. Which under a COE could be withdrawn when COE usage is withdrawn
