I am a German Citizen and will travel next week to Jakarta to apply for an O-A Visa, which seems to be necessary to get the goethailand Application approved.

Two questions

For the A-O Visa, do I really need to have 800 000 Baht or equivalent on a Bank account? I have not. Some information says only 800 $ per Person are necessary. What is the situation? what to do?

They ask for a document saying no criminal record. I have not such a statement. Where and how to get it? Is such a statement really required? I have not been 20 years in Germany

Please help if you have knowledge. From 2012 to 2017 I had retirement visas for Thailand in my old passport would that help?

Joachim

Any help is very appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
A German citizen traveling to Jakarta seeking an O-A Visa has questions about financial requirements and documentation. The consensus in comments is affirming that a minimum of 800,000 Baht or its equivalent is indeed required in a bank account. Additionally, a clean criminal record certificate is necessary, which can typically be obtained from the home country. Suggestions include checking with the embassy in Jakarta for current policies, exploring a tourist visa as an alternative, and noting that past retirement visas could possibly aid in the process. Overall, thorough preparation before travel is advised to ensure compliance with requirements.

Have you had contact with the Embassy in Jakarta? I tried to get an O-A back in December, they wanted nothing to do with it.

let us know know how it goes. I ended up getting a Tourist visa and concerning it later to a Non O

Easier to go visa exempt. 45 days plus 30. Possible further 60 day covid extensions. Just go straight to COE application.

And yes you need clean criminal record certificate for OA. Will not issue without.

As a German citizen you might be able to get an income declaration from your embassy to extend your stay to one year. Then you don't need money in the bank.

Maybe others can tell you what visa is best to enter the country so you can extend your stay later.

You get the OA Visa in your home country. You are required to have the equivalent of 800,000. Baht in your home Bank Account. Also you will need Health Insurance from one of the Companies approved by Thai Immigration. Go the the website of the Thai Consulate in your home country and all the requirements will be listed there. You will find forms to be downloaded and signed by a doctor . You will also need a criminal record report from your home country.

Nochmals bist Du in Thailand oder noch in Deutschland?

If you apply for a new visa, the money can be/is supposed to be in a bank account out of Thailand. The 2 month in a Thai account rule is for people changing their visa type inside Thailand.

did you read his question? He is doing it new

Have you understood my answer? I guess, not.

And yes money equal to the equivalent of 800,000 THB is required

Normally you can only get an OA visa from your home country or country you have legal residency. You’d best check with Jakarta to find out if they’d issue it before making your way there for nothing.

@Stuart ********
In my knowledge you can get only the Non-O single entry (good for 90 days) in any Embassy outside your Homecountry, Non-O/A is, as you said, only available "at home".

@Stephan **********
i always get the Non O from my homecountry. Can not get that is thailand !

@John *****
I’m assuming you meant to type “in” rather than “is”. If so then you’re mistaken. You can get a Non O Visa in Thailand if you meet the right requirements
