thank you. I am looking for clear disclosures by the bank without extra paperwork or requests for understanding by Immigration. Please let us know how it goes 😊
Thank you Sean. My problem is the trust that I can continue to make ฿65,000 deposits not only to finish out this year but for the next year. How long will wise be able to continue its exemption by transferring directly in K Bank?
Wow, I always try to copy the exact language that the immigration department of Thailand wants and this notation is not close to what I used in the past. When I moved to Swift transfer this month as wise had become an interThailand transfer, the notation I had provided to be accompanied with the swift transfer, did not exist in the Siam commercial bank deposit notation. When I question Siam commercial bank about this lack of notation they referred me to a specific form which I would imagine it's the same as the other commentators. So that's 300×12 3600baht for forms plus my swift transfer was a 3% hit on the exchange rate of my $65,000 baht transfer is $70 X 12, which is $840 +3600 baht for the paperwork. Anybody come up with a cheaper way of moving money successfully in September 2025?
I think the $65,000 Baht option a month is gone Jeremy. I can't use wise anymore because they can't directly put money into an account from overseas so the money does not qualify by immigration of Thailand standards. if I use a swift transfer I can put the money directly in one of my Thai bank accounts from overseas, but I take such a huge hit on the exchange rate. 10 days ago I lost 3% of the value of my money when I was given an exchange rate of 30.8 when the value of the baht was 31.78. so if you take $65,000 * 12 you come up with roughly 800,000 and if every deposit of 65,000 experiences of 3% hit on the exchange rate, I don't see an advantage unless you don't have 800,000!
just happened to me a week ago for a trip to Bali. At the check-in counter for my flight to Indonesia the airline staff called me for the intercom to show them proof of a return/onward ticket. Glad I did not have to buy one at that moment!
Wise had to change how they move money into Thailand. Even if you have an account at Kbank, they cannot put money directly into your account from overseas. Everything they bring in has got to go to their account at k bank before it is transferred to your account at any Bank in Thailand. So if you just need money for our normal purpose like buying a car or living expenses there is no problem they will still give you the best rate. What they cannot do is say that the money that they gave your account came directly from overseas. That means if you are looking to use this money to qualify for the long term Visa it is no longer going to pass the standards of Thailand immigration as of September 2025.
I did not know that my account was Frozen as I was receiving the same update every day on my account balance and it was no notation in the account on my application. It was when my normal monthly transfer from overseas of 65,000 Baht was rejected by Bangkok Bank and multiple phone calls were made with Bangkok Bank asking me to talk to wise to find out what they were told as to why Bangkok Bank rejected my transfer. Once I had the rejection code and gave it to the telephone clerks of Bangkok Bank was I informed my account had been closed. I went to the bank spent 30 minutes which seems to be the average for English speaker with one teller available and what's happening about 3 hours. I was told I would be contacted by the head office which has not yet happened and it appears as though the monthly transfer method for satisfying the financial requirements of long-term Visa of 65,000 baht has become so expensive, using Swift transfer cost me 3% on the USD/Baht conversion, that it's better to keep $800,000 baht in the account that does not earn interest as that money must remain free to be moved as per immigration requirements.
