Jeff one more question. Do you use this to transfer the money for your required immigration input of funds from overseas? If so, does your bank properly note the transfer as coming from overseas? Thank you.

Yeah there are fees going in and out. each time you move it across the Pacific you pay.

yeah I would say that's absolutely true. there was a plastic bin with a stack of 6 in of papers, my paperwork from 3 weeks ago was in that stack. they pulled it out had people sign had section stamped and a manager put their card in the system and okayed everything. outside of the computer to link to the main office It was all completed local.

I was on that path and then someone stated that maybe we can still do wise transfer non-Swift to Bangkok Bank. So I am doing a test transfer of $65,000 baht which is due on the 15th. I'll let you know how it comes out. One thing I do know is that when I did a non-Swift wise transfer to KBank it showed up as a transfer within Thailand not a foreign transfer. I am looking for any other avenue besides Swift as their fees are outrageously high. if someone out there has figured out a way to do their monthly transfers with a $16 a month fee, I would love to hear it.

I had the same exact same happened to me so I made a deposit to Siam Commercial Bank account which means I will have to show up with two different banks statements, both certified, in order to qualify by the $65,000 Baht monthly method. Now that wise is no longer able to directly deposit Baht into Thailand accounts from overseas originations, the only avenues left are very expensive. The fees I experienced were 3% and when I went to Wise, who does Swift transfers, this week I was told that I cannot use them for conversion to Baht from other currencies. They are not licensed by the Bank of Thailand for this type of transaction. It is my assumption, be careful when you assume!, that the limited channels that are licensed to convert other currencies into Baht will all be a similar hit on the exchange rate of 3%. When I run out the numbers it is too small advantage to use the monthly method now that Wise is no longer able to directly transfer funds from overseas. What used to be a $16 hit(wise non-Swift) on roughly $2,000 USD to be converted into 65,000 Baht has zoomed into about $80 fees when the reduced exchange rate is taken into account via Swift. So until I hear somebody gets a cheaper way to move $65,000 baht into an account directly from overseas, I'm going to be using the $800,000 baht deposit method.

@Nongnuch *******
unfortunately that did not work with Siam Commercial Bank. I did a swift transfer paid a fee of almost 3% and no notation of foreign transfer occurred. when I talk to Siam Commercial Bank phone staff they told me I needed to get another form to prove the transaction originated from overseas. I do not know if there is a fee with that form but I've heard 300 baht and 200 baht related to the same issue.

How much? Do you a form for every transfer or are all transfers for the year on one form?

@Charles *******
it appears as though the bank will verify that the funds came from an international location. when you request the verification through a form given to them.
