We started the process August 2015, sold a house and bought a smaller one to rent... Sold all my stuff and moved January 2016,though easily could have done it by December only work stopped us coming earlier...

Yes she should and if theres been a decent delay I'd expect some grief when you eventually do go. An agent could minimise any hassle.
