What are the requirements and procedures for the 90-day reporting in Thailand after moving provinces?

Looking for a second opinion regarding 90 day report.

History:

I moved from another province to Phuket, and my hotel reported me via TM30 online.

Also, I applied and received a certificate of residence (COR), during the same time period. Another 90 day report was not requested by immigration to apply for the COR.

I'm not certain that immigration did it for me.

My previous 90 day report was in another province.

Answer:

A. My certificate of residence is considered a "show of reporting", negating the need to be concurrent from my previous 90 day reporting.

Since I was in-person when I applied.

B It's 90 days from when I received the COR.

C. 90 reporting runs concurrent regardless. I still need to come in because TIT.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation centers around the 90-day reporting requirement for expats in Thailand, particularly after moving provinces. The original poster shares their experience of moving to Phuket, where their hotel submitted a TM30 report, and they received a certificate of residence. They seek clarity on the 90-day reporting rules. The answers emphasize that getting a certificate of residence does not negate the need for a 90-day report, which must be filed in person after moving provinces; it's due 90 days from entry or the last report. Comments clarify that residency certificates do not reset the reporting timeline and that the report must be made to the immigration office corresponding with the location of the last TM30 report.

If the online gets better, perhaps that's a step in the right direction. I've tried once last year, I try again soon.

It's their country, they can run it the way they want. I'm grateful to be afforded the privilege of retirement here.

Any progress is certainly welcomed!

what is the real purpose of 90 days report, more so now, when you can do it online from anywhere?

Getting a certificate of residence from an immigration office has absolutely nothing to do with your need to report every 90 days. You could in theory go every day to an office and request a certificate, but you’ll still need to report your 90 days within the time frame allowed.

Getting a COR does not change the date that you need to report. You need to do so 90 days from within entry to Thailand or 90 days from your last report.

The only things that may “adjust” the date needed for a 90 day report is that you’ve left Thailand and re-entered so from which it resets the report need or that you’ve got a brand new extension off a visa such as a new non O.

Getting an extension off an extension does not change the reporting date required. If you got a new year extension yesterday, and your 90 day report is due tomorrow then you’ll need to report then. Some offices will take that in to account and give you a new slip in your passport but some won’t.

Is doing a 90 day report anywhere in theingdom fine. Will it affect residency or anything? I.e., Reporting while visiting other provinces..

@Jeh ****
you usually have to do your 90 day report in the office that corresponds with your most recent TM30.

That's interesting.. So, if I'm visiting another province, the hotel registers me; then I can go to immigration there.

When I return, my condo owner needs to registers me m, again.

@Jeh ****
probably. I'd try online first though using your normal address.

The certificate of residency has nothing to do with when you must do your 90 day report. That is based on when you entered Thailand. Applying for and getting a certificate of residency does not restart the 90 day count.

Your first 90 day after moving province must be done in person...

There's only 2 ways to satisfy the 90 day report requirement.

1) file an on-time 90 day report.

2) leave the country before it's been 90 days since your last report.

NOTHING else counts as a 90 day report and resets the timer. Not even an extension (though sometimes they will file a new 90 day report for you when you do an extension and they'll give you a new 90 day report slip).

Almost correct. The First Request for Extension, also qualifies as 90-day Report as expressly stated in the Statute.
