 sure, but that has been the case for decsdes and could well be written into their laws. However that is certainly not the case in Thailand. Pretty sure it will be a comment that is forgotten about very quickly

Normally when i fly with Etihad they email upgrade offers about 2 or 3 days before the flight and again 12 hours or so before check in
