TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has received approval for a dental treatment visa (DTV) in Cambodia but is concerned about their visa expiring next week during public holidays, which may affect their flight back to Thailand for surgery. They shared their document preparation and timeline for applying for the DTV. Community members offered advice on staying in Cambodia until approval, potential delays, and the importance of health over visa issues.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
Contact the embassy and explain your circumstance don't waste your time here. See the haters attack you. The embassy will process you quicker when you explain. Sort it before you return to Thailand
I have prepared an email and I will deploy it tomorrow. If the visa is declined, then Thailand is encouraging people to apply for visas for which they qualify for but are rejected. The system should be overhauled and a central department makes the decision with a clear time frame. Ahhh anyway fingers crossed
Can I request that could you update the information when you get approve email? Mine is submitted on 21 April and still waiting with the pending approval status.
Yes it is advisable to stay until your visa is approved, but sometimes life doesn't go the way we planned. Considering you have a serious surgery scheduled, I would return back to Thailand if I were you.
I applied in HCMC and had to travel back to Thailand on a visa exempt as my family member was sick unexpectedly. A few hours after I arrived in Thailand my DTV was approved. I just flew out and back in a few weeks later to be stamped with thr DTV. This was at the very beginning of the visa so perhaps it was more easy back then, or I was lucky. But just sharing that sometimes you might get lucky. If your visa gets rejected, then you'll apply again. Your health is definately more important
Minimum of 10 business days in Cambodia, so you may have to wait another few days before you get an answer.
Question: why did you decide to apply in Cambodia assuming you were aware that the processing time there is generally double the waiting time when compared to the likes of Hanoi?
Anonymous participant yeah unfortunately Cambodia is known to have slow processing times. I think Vietnam is a better option both for the visa application and a place to visit
Anonymous participant that’s why it’s important to do your own due diligence before choosing where to apply from. By the way, I’d suggest it’s worth sending a follow up email to the embassyI. hope you get approved soon 🤞
Anonymous participant 544 What an unfounded assumption. Plenty of people are living on legitimate visas in Thailand that allow them to have a Thai bank account before they obtain a DTV.
Anonymous participant 544 well I had my DTV approved and I only submitted statements from my Thai bank account. Of course tho, this could differ from one embassy to the other
Anonymous participant to visit a dental clinic maybe once every month or every. 2 months doesn’t mean you take a longtime off work , you’re up to something
