TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the success rate of applying for a Digital Tourist Visa (DTV) to Thailand from abroad without a Thai bank statement. Most commenters believe that using a non-Thai bank account significantly increases the chances of approval, citing estimates of over 97% success for applicants in similar situations. The emphasis is on the amount in the account rather than where it is held. Concerns are raised about using a Thai bank account due to additional documentation complications, but several participants mention that having accounts in both Thailand and abroad can be beneficial, provided that they meet the required financial thresholds.
Anonymous participant 778 the bank account can be from ANYWHERE as long as it's in your name.

Anonymous participant 778 that’s definitely not true. I had my DTV approved in Hanoi, Vietnam by submitting my Thai bank account where my salary was regularly deposited prior to applying.
What really matters is that you’re working for a company based outside of Thailand, the company is legitimate, you can provide proof of income going into your account, and that you meet the 500k THB financial requirement.

Best to use a non-Thai bank account. I recall seeing an applicant using a Thai account being asked for extra documentation to prove that money originated from outside Thailand in the first place.

Anonymous participant 929 doesn't matter where the money comes from as long as you have it and not the date before you apply that's the issue people borrow from friends

It doesn't matter what bank account you have it's the money amount that's important not the country of the bank also that it's a savings account

I would estimate non-Thai bank accounts used for DTVs applications are 97+%. Most use non-Thai bank accounts. You will be fine with non-Thai bank account.

You can't/ shouldn't have a thai bank account on dtv
