It makes no difference. Show it, don’t show it. It’s a multiple entry visa valid for five years. You can come and go as you please.

You say you have no idea why they refused your application, but it says quite clearly why.

Maybe whoever’s in charge of immigration at the airport has decided on this particular stance with DTV holders? Who knows. As you know there’s so much leeway given for interpretation of rules, in all sectors, not just immigration, that it’s common to see these variations in service levels and requirements all over the country.

Most of those reports mentioned they entered at Chiang Mai airport. Everywhere else seems normal.

Anonymous participant fair enough but it’s one of the most expensive places in Thailand. In the medium to long term, I’d advise you to start looking elsewhere.

If you’re going to live in Thailand for a long time, learn the language and explore the country.

You report the address that your TM30 registered you at. That also determines which immigration office you use.

If you’re staying in hotels, ask them for a copy of the TM30 as they will be the ones filing it on your behalf.

he wouldn’t have been asked that if he hadn’t shown an email from ‘onward ticket dot com’ or whatever company he bought it from instead of the actual ticket.

On most Thai embassy sites they state exactly how much you need to show in either the local currency, or a currency they specify. When I was helping someone from the UK apply in Vietnam, the amount we used was over the ฿500,000 and we added a note showing the current exchange rate from GBP to baht on that day as we couldn’t expect Thai staff in a Vietnamese embassy to know the exchange rates for a multitude of currencies.

You cant go to the embassy or consulate. Everything is online.

They’ve clearly stated ‘not enough money’ so you’re going to need more.
