Do I need to file a TM30 for a short visit to Thailand before returning for a longer stay?

ORIGINAL POSTERIf I haven't used my DTV to enter Thailand yet and only plan on staying a couple weeks, leaving and then returning for longer, do I still need to do the TM30 from my hotel on this first short visit? Or wait until I'm there for longer?

If you are staying at a hotel in Thailand, the hotel is responsible for filing the TM30 registration on your behalf, regardless of the length of your stay. This applies to every stay in Thailand, and it must be done within 24 hours after arriving at your accommodation. Every foreigner, no matter where they stay, shall be registered with in 24 hours after they arrived at the adress.
It is the house owner, who is responsible to make the registration.
If you may need to use TM30 for something (Immigration), then ask the reception for a copy allready when checking in, it makes it easier for everybody involved.
