TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is concerned about missing the 90-day reporting requirement for their dtv visa in Thailand. Community members clarify that failing to do this can result in a fine, and suggest that while it is still possible to report at an immigration office even after the deadline, doing so may incur penalties. Some commenters advise that leaving the country and returning can reset the reporting requirement without a fine.

Leave the country, come back — it will reset without paying a fine.

If you're leaving the country within the 180 days, don't even worry about it
Luit *****************
Maybe not worry about it, it is too late now anyway.

Leaving the country will not change the fine with next interaction with an immigration office, where they might, or might not charge the 2000 baht fine.

@Luit ****************
Unlikely a DTV holder will ever interact with an immigration office so it'll never be picked up. I used to do it all the time with the OA. In four years never did a single 90 day report and never got fined

It's a free choice not to obey rules, you might get away with it, but I really don't understand why so many here seem to be proud they get away with not obeying rules. Personally I think TN47 reporting is useless, but as I am a guest in the country it is polite to follow their rules.

@Luit ****************
You need to talk to the estimated 50% of non-O retirees who pay bribes via an agent to get their extensions if you're concerned about people not obeying the laws! And whilst you're about it, talk to those who illegally buy "replica" designer merchandise from MBK. And don't forget those who ride motorcycles without a licence or helmet! 😂😂

When deciding to move to Thailand, you do your research on rules and regulations and always check as policies change, should always keep yourself updated on requirements

From what I've read through this page, is if you leave the country the 90 day reporting will reset. The immigration officers at the airport dont have anything to do with the 90 day report so no fine would be given. However, if you need to extend your visa or do anything at the immigration office then they will see that it wasn't done and give you a fine.

Sorry to highjack the post, but if I exit Thailand within the 7-day grace period, is it OK to say I wouldn't face any consequences nor penalties, even if I were to deal with Immigration on the future?
Greg ******
@ElĂas *******
That grace period time window applies only if you're doing it. If you leave without completing it after 90 days, it is considered a non-report and may or may not have consequences.
Siggi *******
@Greg *****
not true there are no consequences
Luit *****************
@Siggi ******
consequences maybe not when exiting, but next visit to immigration might have a surprise for you. Exiting resets counter of 90 days, but will certainly not reset your violation.

@Luit ****************
this!!!

We have friends who didn’t make their 90 day report and didn’t leave before the next 90 day report and that’s where you can run into larger fines and potentially having your visa revoked.
Jonas *************
@Siggi ******
that is not true.

If you get arrested by the police fine is 4,000. And if you go and do another night today report at some point there might be a 2000 fine.

But presumably it doesn't give you a problem to enter because it's not checked at that point supposedly.
Siggi *******
@Greg *****
where you leave everything is reseted
Luit *****************
@Siggi ******
where did you find this BS?
Greg ******
@Siggi ******
I kindly invite you to conduct your own research in other expat groups where members have several months of experience with immigration procedures. Many individuals have reported being fined THB 2,000; mostly when visiting immigration for documents/extensions. I'm not suggesting that everyone is fined, only that some have encountered this penalty. It is a law.
Luit *****************
@ElĂas *******
no, the grace period is for reporting, you might report a number of days before and after day 90, but it has to be done.
Michael *******
YES you have to

How can someone get a visa but dont know about the rules?

@Kurt ************
maybe because in Thailand they change the rules every second and almost impossible to know everything!

90 day reporting has been in place since 1979

I read a lot about all and somehow I missed this point :) what happens if I let it in my visa run moment which is soonish ? If I have a TM 30 for all these times I stayed here with me is that not enough ?
Kurt *************
@Yam ******
you should go do immediately. Do not wait. You risk loosing your dtv and get fines pr day
Yam *******

@Kurt ************
ok thank you
Kurt *************
@Yam ******
no, 90 day reporting has been in the rules since dtv was released. So day 1 rule. Not a change. But you should go do now before you get problems with getting back in
Lee-Ann *******
@Kurt ************
90 day reporting has been around for yonks, long before DTV Visa, it's required for most Visa's
Kurt *************
@Lee-Ann ******
exactly what i was saying
Luit *****************
@Kurt ************
and also long time before...
Kurt *************
@Yam ******
this 90 day reporting has been known information since the dtv came out. Just go do it asap
John **********
Every time you spend 90 consecutive days inside Thailand you are legally required to do a 90 day report. The consequences of not doing one is a 2000 baht fine the next time you interact with an immigration office. The fine increases to 5000 baht if you're arrested and found not to have done one.
Rio ******
@John *********
Ever like you never left and didn't check in or like haven't ever checked in since you have been coming and going in Thailand?
John **********
@Rio *****
no idea what that means

if you could give me your source and I'll find my answer there.

Thank you , but do u think even if I pass 90 days I can do it from the immigration now
Greg ********
@Yam ******
There is a 7 day grace period but after that you may be fined. I once forgot totally and went to the office. Told one of the agents in the offices next to the Immigration Office my situation. He said OK - 500 THB and it was all sorted. That service may or may not be available where you need to report.
John **********
@Yam ******
you can go and do one now and pay the fine, or you can wait until you next interact with an immigration office and pay it then
Raed ****
Don't worry when you jump for a visa run and come back again to Thailand you will pay 2000 fine after that try to file your 90 day report in the correct time
Siggi *******
@Raed ***
not true, you pay nothing after entering Thailand again
ElĂas ********
@Raed ***
the fine is if you visit Immigration office (not the border agents at the airport) for any reason. Even if you didn't do it, and exit and reenter, there's is no fine if you're not visiting Immigration.
Steve *******
@Raed ***
there is no fine when leaving and entering, if you haven't done your 90 day report.

The fine is only enforced if you do the report late, not doing it and leaving has no consequences.
Katyee **********
@Steve ******
very true.

We have friends with regular visas and missed their 90 day report and thought they’d just hit it the next time around. They didn’t leave the country during the time to the next 90 day one and about lost their visa and got much larger fine.
Greg ********
@Raed ***
I have never ever heard anyone on any kind of visa be fined on entry over a missed 90 day report - sources please
