I didn’t have to do that. Ironically due to Thailand Pass I had to get insurance for Covid but no background check, etc. I seeded the money when I got here.

Many ways to get longer visas. All legit and easy. Wouldn’t waste time worrying about it if you’re already good with current visa. I think you’re asking when you come back will you be able to do what you want to do but should ask what’s the best visa for you when you return and under what conditions. You’ll get great advice for the best visa solution with that.

Could have been much worse. Happy you’re both not seriously injured. Seems even in worse case you’re not going to be having a life changing issue here. Maybe count your blessings, make payments and move on.
