TLDR : Answer Summary
To enter Thailand on a retirement visa (OA visa), a round trip ticket is not mandatory; travelers can enter with a one-way ticket. Holders of non-immigrant visas, including retirement visas, do not need an exit ticket. However, it's essential to have valid travel insurance, which is a requirement for entry, particularly if there's a double insurance requirement for those returning on an OA visa after a short trip abroad.

I am curious about the double insurance requirement.. It looks like OA visas with ~ a year left need to buy ~ a years travel insurance to enter (eg. After a short overseas holiday) with the Thai Pass. Even though they are already required to have full time, local health insurance for their visa.

But insurance is required and the number of insured days determines the number of days you can stay in Thailand?

No, that's only for the Non-OA.

my OX visa was stamped 2024 when I entered in 2019, on the surface, it looks like double insurance plus length of stay reduced πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ€¦πŸΌ. (Assuming they won’t stamp anyone past 1 year as that is all insurance companies will sell)
