Shipping a package from the states. Has anyone shipped a pair of shoes sized box from USA? What was the cost approximately? It’s a pair of used running shoes so no value. But can’t find shoes big enough here to run in…trying to judge if it’s worth it.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Shipping a pair of used running shoes from the USA to Thailand can cost approximately $50 using USPS. It's advised to mark the package as a gift with no commercial value to avoid customs fees, as customs officials tend to tax based on the declared value. Using USPS is recommended over services like FedEx or DHL, as packages sent via the latter are likely to face customs scrutiny. Delivery times can vary; USPS could take several weeks. Expats suggest considering alternative options like purchasing bigger sizes in Malaysia or utilizing local stores.
If someone can send it to you, get them to mark it NCV, or even write it as no cash value, if there is a value on it they tax you a percentage of the listed value
I’ve sent to big boxes before and listed personal clothing no cash value
No customs charge
Prior to that, I sent a mattress overlay that was new, I paid over $200 AUD
Marked its value as $50
Item was held at the post office as I had to go and pay the duties on $50 but not on the actual price of over $200

Mark it as a gift and of no commercial value and keep under 2kg … from the UK under $20 ….

Running,,,, good for Cardio,,,,, Terrible for your knees and hips, in later life,,,, start socking away a lot of Baht for some likely future joint replacements....
yeh ....that's the problem ...damage often doesn't show up until years later ...I Jog for short distances but I'm afraid of long term issues coming to light further down the track
Sounds good 👍, but put aside some cash just in case☀️

I’m forever bringing stuff in from Australia for one of my Thai friends. Do you know anyone who is flying in? Just take them out of the box.

try running on the beach/sand barefoot.. compressed sand near the water is easier.. take it easy first few times don't go to far or you'll get blisters but eventually better for your training i think...
funny enough I live on the beach but it’s sloped so it’s hard on the hips and knees.

My kids have sent me multiple boxes that size from the states.
Shocking the cost of USPS was near $100. However I never paid customs here at all despite the contents being hundreds of dollars in value.
Conversely I have shipped from Amazon and other companies that package it like commercial goods and have paid customs of up to 500 baht on next to nothing in value.

Send it to a thai name and village address if you can ! Customs mainly look for foreign name as a cash cow ! Sent stuff to my wife using the post office never had a problem only opened one package one time !

It's about 50 dollars from Arizona with USPS. Don't use ups or FedEx. I do it often with size 14. Put the name to receive in a Thais name if you can. You won't have issues with customs with USPS.

I once had to send back notarized signed documents to Jomtien despite noting next day delivery and paying through the nose for it. The package still took about a week through USPS. It took 6 weeks for clothes. I just wanted to warn you that it will take a 'minute' to get there, but perhaps DHL may be faster...

Yes. USPS or DHL no problems.

Everything has value. It's what the customs officers decide the value is that will matter.
Your best bet is to mail it normal USPS. Then it has at least a chance of not getting caught up in customs. If you ship it with FedEx or DHL it's almost guaranteed to get stopped.
If it does it stopped it's probably not worth it to even go to the airport to discuss it with the customs department.
