Driver license renewal. Has to be done the same office where you got your license? Mine was phuket but my Thai friend says to go to phang nga because line is smaller.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The renewal of a Thai driver's license can sometimes be done at a different location than where it was originally issued, but it often requires a residence certificate from the local immigration office. While many expats report successfully renewing their licenses in various locations, it's important to check with the local office regarding specific document requirements. Some users recommend Phang Nga as an alternative with smaller lines, but others emphasize that the renewal must be done in the area where your residence certificate was issued. It's advisable to confirm the latest procedures and requirements to avoid issues.

Wrong, I got mine in Pranburi, renewed in Pattaya

Mine originated in Chiang Mai, and I renewed last year at Koh Samui, where I live now. No issues at all. Check your local office for the list of particular documents you will need to renew.

No it doesn't, has to be done in area your resident certificate is issued , i did my 2 year in phuket and my 5 year renewals in bangkok
sorry to disagree . Got my residents cert from Phuket at 300thb each and renewed at Phang Nga. They even had a laugh that phuket charge 300thb per cert. Said I should have gone to Phang nga
, not only book an appointment, bur also study and answer questions about driving rules.

I don't know what you have to laugh, but trust me its true. I just renewd on last october. So has to go traffic depertment and they will show him about it. If he doesnt do this, and score is low, he will not pass . Plus when its time to get licence, the will test him about how quick he responds to lights flash and bracking. Maybe you not renew your licence from long time....
it's an hour video that includes things about wearing safety belts and using an indicator when turning and then three simple questions to answer, anyone who can drive doesn't have to worry.
, there are many things on video , its a questionary. If wasn't necessary i don't think they let people watching. By the way , i hope that guy could renew his driving licence without any trouble.
