Can I apply for a Non-O visa while temporarily outside Thailand, and what are my re-entry options?

Non-O question: too early to apply for long term (not in country long enough and funds need to be 90 days in the account - I thought 60). Anyway have to pop out for a few months. Is there a re-entry option I could use when I come back and pick up where I left off? Or just let it lapse and then can I apply for another Non-O?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the timing for applying for a Non-O visa considering they will be leaving Thailand shortly. They seek advice on re-entry options and whether they can apply for a new Non-O visa after expiring. Responses indicate that a re-entry permit can be applied for before leaving, allowing the user to maintain their original entry date. Alternatively, they could exit and re-enter on a tourist visa or visa-exempt status, then apply for Non-O while in Thailand. Clarifications regarding funds show that while funds don't require a seasoning period for the Non-O visa, they must be from abroad and the seasoning rule is necessary for yearly extensions.

Funds DONT need seasoning for the Non Imm O visa, they only need to be transfered from abroad. Two months seasoning is only required for the first yearly extention of stay.

that is not true. You obviously have ever gotten a type O visa one year extension inside Thailand before, or you'd know that. Its been the same for the last five years for me, and everyone I know.

Two months seasoning before application is required every year.

I thought it was 3 months for the 2nd and subsequent years.

Funds for a year extension based on retirement need to be in the account 2 months prior and kept at 800k for 3 months after. After that the balance may not fall below 400k for the rest of the year and would need to be topped back up two months prior to your next application.

You can apply for a re-entry permit on the stamp you have. On return you’ll get stamped in to your original date. If you don’t think you’ll be back in time then just exit and you’d have to apply for a new one prior to entering. You could enter on a tourist visa or exempt and then apply for a non O in country. There is no seasoning needed for the 800k but it needs to been shown to have come from abroad. The visa costs 2000 baht. It gives you 90 days and when that’s winding down you apply for the year extension.
