That's good, I had to try 11 banks, not even on a tourist visa. They aren't legally allowed to do that anymore they said.

Went to 5 Bangkok bank branches and they all told me no :/ - a year ago they became more much strict. I had luck with K bank with a ton of paperwork.

Which banks accept ED Visa holders for opening a bank account in Thailand?

I did it with kasikorn bank. They have been great. Bangkok bank didn't allow it (I tried many with a mountain of paperwork). Usually they want you to be married first. I would go to the bank and ask them what are all the documents they require. I needed a LOT of documents including ones from my embassy. Bringing your wife can help also. 👍

And many people work online or freelance and so don't have the option for LTR. Having a masters is also something that most don't have.
