As Michael said , foreign women married to a Thai man don't need money in a Thai bank to get a spouse visa/extension. Only foreign men married to thai women do. So if this is the only reason you want to open an account here, you don't need it.

. I can confirm above to be true. I was 86 days late once due to the online application falsely approving it late. Was fined 2000b . Has no effect on any future visa extensions provided you pay the fine. If you want to avoid the fine, call them or call in and check that it was approved online to make 100% sure. Also print the approval and keep it to show them if they try to fine you In future.

Or get a vaccine passport at a major hospital and they will stamp it every time + any boosters.

With spouse extensions, they don't give a shit where it comes from , as long as it's in your account for 2 calendar months prior to applying for the extension. I've done it 4 times and have transferred it 2 days before start date of 2 month period.
