TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights concerns regarding government-mandated hotel quarantine for travelers arriving in Australia amidst COVID-19 regulations. Commenters inquire about the costs associated with quarantine, sharing details that suggest the government may cover the expenses, although travelers do not have the option to choose their accommodation.

Anyone know which hotels? $300 per night is quite a lot when you're stuck for 2 weeks

This means if you land in Sydney, even if you live in Melbourne, you are quarantined in Sydney, not in home city.

Govt has also engaged the ADF to help police monitor all people on self quarantine/isolation.
