TLDR : Answer Summary
Users in the discussion express mixed feelings about a group moderator named Tod, who is noted for frequently locking posts that they view as relevant, particularly regarding visa-related questions. One user highlights a specific situation where a member's innocent inquiry about temporary stays in neighboring countries after a visa rejection was abruptly shut down. Others share their experiences with Tod, acknowledging his good intentions and past helpfulness, while also noting instances where he appears to stifle conversation. Overall, the conversation reflects the community's frustration with moderation practices while also appreciating Tod's contributions.

Tod is straight to the point and never wrong with his advice. That rubs some people the wrong way (snowflakes) . Ive met him too and is a very nice guy. After 12 years of handing out free advice, I'd get a bit blunt too at times..๐

Yeah Tod is great, I PM him too sometime. He understand that Thailand is not black & white law and that nuance is important. But Robert is on leash and I would not be surprise if Amornrat was more than a normal agent.

Tod has been very quiet lately. I think he is leaving it up to the Robert and Amornrat show. Tod sometimes shuts down conversations early, depending on his mood but at least he is not rude or abusive. I have had PM conversations with Tod and he seems like a great guy. In other forums he is quite funny. Bit of a stirrer actually.

i know that many praise tod, and he has helped many but also locked many posts as well. just the other day, someone asked on the old thai visa, that if they failed at their visa application and had to depart from thailand quickly, which local country-- laos, cambodia, vietnam, etc would posters recommend as a place to stay temporarily while regrouping to apply again to thailand.
i thought this was an interesting question and could brung some helpful recommendations to those in similar situations when their vias rejections put them on the path, at least temporarily, to a hasty exit.
either way, a harmless question and interesting answers to come?? no, tod said, nope, not related to obtaining a visa, post/ comments locked.
