Maybe the IO's have plenty of time on their hands at the moment, and are making work to fill out their time.

Im due for 90 day report next week and have already decided to go in person, as I want to change from Visa / "Retirement" to "Marriage" ext.

I'll try not to ask any IO with a wonkey eye🧐

you most likely aren't on ANY visa right now and instead just on a yearly extension based on being over 50 (retirement) that you get from the immigration office every year

It's quite easy to "change the reason" for your yearly extension from one based on retirement to one based on marriage when your next extension comes due.

I feel for you Steve. Had the same in January when I did my retirement extension. Four people checked my paperwork without comment. The fifth person asked for all sorts of additional information. Took me nine hours to finally get my extension.

I dont know if this is the new norm or I got singled out.

All i can say is beware the IO at desk 33 with the lazy eye.. dont make eye contact or she will turn you to stone..

Had that experience last week only to find that my previous employer hadn’t cancelled my WP so I’ll have it all to do again this coming Monday 😔

I did my first ever tm30 two months ago. Been here 3+ years. It was 7 months after my last entry to Thailand and they didnt fine me...

Did two yearly extensions without ever having done one..

I guess my luck ran out yesterday.

You were getting a yearly extension? How did they find out your WP wasn't canceled?

. 3x separate proofs of same financials.

Original and copy of most recent tm30 receipt.

Copy of wife's I'd card AND passport.

Had to sign 2 extra forms stating my info was correct and I was aware of penalties of overstay. Wife had to sign her own version too.

Copy and original of marriage certificate AND registration document.

Copy of every page of my passport regardless of relevance to application.

Actual tabien bahn and copy of every page signed.

Questioned what country I entered from even though I wrote it on application form and the stamp was above my last entry date in my passport..

At end of it had to have a mugshot taken of wife and I together, me holding my passport under my chin and wife holding her thai ID under hers and both of us holding marriage certificate.. .

When waiting for stamp they made us sign new copies (thay they made)of everything again.

Wife was in tears when we left.
