I entered at a border one time and a Swiss guy in front of me was denied as he didn't have six months left on his passport expiry. He was turned back and told to get a temporary passport at his embassy in Cambodia.

Consulate or embassy near you. A tourist visa or Non O visa. There is no such thing as a retirement visa, just a non o based on marriage or age .
