What are the current fees for the DTV visa across different embassies?

not sure what’s up with the exchange rate but my dtv visa was a $400 USD (฿14K+), not ฿10,000. the receipt doesn’t itemize any additional fees so i’m assuming that’s the true fee. curious what others paid.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed confusion about the DTV visa fee they paid, which was significantly higher than expected at $400 USD (around ฿14,000), contrary to the assumed fee of ฿10,000. Several commenters shared their experiences with different visa fees at various embassies, highlighting discrepancies due to exchange rates and individual embassy pricing policies. The conversation delved into the complexities of visa fees, why they vary between embassies, and the challenges expats face in budgeting for these expenses.

Noticed this a lot - looks like the individual embassies are creaming a 3-4k baht cut for themselves. Outrageous, but they will get away with it.

I hate when people try and shame others especially about finances by saying they should be grateful for whatever opportunity. it tells me how you might be treating thai people, many of whom will be more concerned with finances than you. “we” are not monolithic, we come from many different circumstances and we’re all trying to better our lives. we don’t need you to come in and tell us we should be okay with anything. if you’re okay. pay whatever a government tells you to pay and shut up. but leave the more conscious and critical of us to our own ways.

tldr; please 🖕🏾 off

You hate, you jump straight to F'off, probably find a better country mate 🙂 That wont go down well here. I am just a person who loves it here and don't care to quibble over a few quid. 'we' are monolithic, we are human, in general we are one, that's another argument altogether. To Thailand we are certainly are monolithic outsiders, wanting to come in. If you don't want opinions of randoms don't post on the internet.

The number of people complaining over such a small amount of money is proof this was such a terrible decision by the Thai government. Cheap people who aren’t going to spend money will not bring the tax revenue the governed hopes to see.

perhaps you need too show your proof of country of residence by using your licence. I know they ask for it in your application. Plus they want to see flights in and out of your country. I don't think you can pick Cambodia when your ID states you are from *insert western country here*.

it's 500,000 THB or $16,000, if you're showing a statement in USD, it's $16k. Hopefully they will show you some leniency but that's the requirement from that embassy.

it seems the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs at some point in their recent history, decided to raise the visa fees for New Zealanders so incredibly high, as if they wanted to disencourage Newzealanders to visit Thailand. . . . . . . Maybe you can blame it onto the two Kiwis who took a Thai Brown Boy (policeman) into a chokehold 7 months ago. Maybe this incident caused a whole nation to be regarded as being hostile to their guest country 🤓

Where did I say it was???😮NK's comment suggested the incident may have been a factor in the fee increases in March. 🤔 I was just pointing out that the incident actually happened immediately prior to the fee increases, not 7 months ago, so clearly had no connection. If embassies/consulates raised visa costs every time a farang behaved badly you'd need to win the lottery to afford to buy one🤣

Sadly this is “normal”. Prices vary drastically between different consulates. As with everything in Thailand … nothing is ever coherent between different offices of the same organization. Same with local immigration offices. And then they wonder why people try to play the system and shop for the more favorable consulates and immigration offices.

I know the official price is 1900b but the immigration officers can ask more right? (Same like the Thai police i did see in youtube a ticket 2000THB no helmet and at the end he did pay 500THB at the policestarion) And that is what happened to me. It was last year I am probably did trow away the receipt or he didn't give me. But as you read here it could be for the "photo service 😁"

Well... um... okay... you are right... and also wrong... 😉

By law this certificate is free of charge. What you pay is a kind of "express fee" for taking it "same day". If you tell the IO that you don't want to pay he will tell you to come back the next day... or the next week... or in two weeks to pick it up. And... if you decide pay the fee you won't get a receipt... that's the big difference to visa and/or extensions. The "funny" thing about this fee is, that not even all the offices inside the same Province charge the same... whyever...
