Hello all,

stayed in Thailand this year on a METV from January until July (6 months). Planning to come back in November on a SETV.

Is there any valid reason that immigration could pull me over or should that not be the case since I stayed out of Thailand for over 3 months?

(one immigration officer some time ago told me: staying out of Thailand for min 3 month gives no space to assume one living in Thailand as a Tourist anymore... ?)

Hello. Can you enter Thailand as a tourist as many times as you want in a year now ?

I'm currently having a huge argument with a moderator of an English-speaking group

He is absolutely convinced that he believes what Tod Daniels wrote a week ago about the 60-day visa-exempt entry.

I, on the other hand, and the admin of another English-speaking visa advice group, are of the opinion that you shouldn't believe everything and should wait and see whether more reports of this kind come in.

It's true - there have been no other such statements so far.

Tod Daniels (a great guy, the visa guru of the advice groups!)

came to the conclusion a week ago that since July 15th you can make UNLIMITED 60-day visa-exempt entries via a land border. The limit of crossing a land border twice per calendar year has been dropped, he wrote

unfortunately, he is basing his argument on ONE single report, as well as the passport and the story of a Filipino who was stamped in at Nong Khai

this Filipino had already overstayed three times (!!) and had already made THREE 30-day visa-free entries since the beginning of the year!

and then the guy claims that after a 60-day visa-exempt stay permit was stamped into his passport, he asked the official how many times he could re-enter from there on

and the official answered him: "unlimited!"

I don't believe a word of this story

because - who is so stupid as to point out to the official at the border with such a stupid question that he might have made a mistake?

He would have expect that the border official will take a closer look at his passport and possibly revoke the stamp!

And what else can you say about the little phrase "unlimited visa-free travel"?

The phrase "unlimited visa-free travel by air" has already suggested something that didn't actually exist

In the past, at a certain point, let’s say, the third consecutive attempt at visa-free travel, you would be taken aside at all airports (and at land borders!) and questioned about your true intentions.

And you would be warned that this would be the last time you would be allowed to enter without a suitable visa for a specific purpose.

So, please, why would it have been changed to "unlimited visa-free travel for 60 days for the rest of your Life" as of July 15th?

Based on just ONE report from a Filipino traveler about his experiences at a land border to Laos?

Why should one now start to believe that the phrase "unlimited" actually means unlimited entries by air and land?

Each entry is still granted at the discretion of the immigration officer at the border.

If an immigration officer decides that you have used visa-free entry often enough in a row and have "abused" it for a long-term stay, you can flush the next "unlimited" entry down the toilet

How many entries can you do per year through airport entry?

Hoping to get some reassurance because apparently I was completely wrong about entering Thailand via air and there being no limit.

I am a U.S citizen. I arrived in Thailand January 6th '24 and got a 30 day stamp/visa extempt. I extended 30 days later. Before the 60 days were up, I left for Japan for 2 weeks.

After Japan I came back to Thailand and did the same thing... Got 30 days on arrival, arrived by air. (Went to Seoul for about 7 days). Extended and before 60 days I just left today.

I'm currently in Vietnam for 2 nights and coming back to Thailand this Wed.

I read numerous articles online that claimed as long as you arrive by air, immigration doesn't care how many times you come into Thailand on a visa extempt.

I just read a Facebook post, ppl are denied the 3rd time they do this.

Has anyone experienced this or know of anyone who has??

A friend of mine did a border bounce to Vietnam yesterday and returned back to Thailand on the same day. When re-entering Thailand the Immigration officer questioned him and said that he needs to stay outside of Thailand for at least 2 weeks before he is allowed to re-enter the next time he attempts this.

I have never heard of this 2 week rule before. Is this a thing or just made up by the IO?

For who is this covid visa extension (60 days)?

Some guy told me anyone could get it, but to me it seems kinda odds. I came on visa exemption, can I apply for that covid extension?

Hi,I shall be renewing my Non O retirement ,1 year extension in late June,but my UK passport expires 15th January 2023,will I receive a full year or until my passport runs out.Thanks Tony

Is there a limit to how many times you can extend your 60 day Covid extension? A colleague of mine was advised by immigration in July that this would be his last one? His present Covid extension expires on the 27th Sept.

Denied entry, some member asked on how to do if denied entry. We have ask some IO and we received some suggestions, you can apply for visa and fly in or enter via land border with the visa and the three proofs. If you did not use up your allowance of the 30 day entries per year you can use basically the most common land borders to enter, have ready the three proofs. All IO said there is no instruction about how and when to deny entry, it is entirely up to the IO in front of you. Another story is the "alarm" which is coming up when you enter under visa exempt too many times, again no fix number, in that case the IO has to bring you to his superior for interview you, they also said , in most these cases you will be let in with a warning!
