As much as you want as long as you tell them you have more than 10K with you, especially within the US. I stopped and told them, no problem and they escorted me to the next Terminal after I ponted out to them that the people loitering outsid all knew that I had more than 10K on me.

If you don't need the scene look further South of Jomtien. Nice places and cheaper too, plenty of good restaurants and cozy bars. Easy ride to Pattaya for groceries etc.

Just get the right visa and there should be no problems. Immigration are getting a bit antsy when it comes to what you are doing. Just maybe, one day one will say no wat through and put a stamp in your passport?
