My wife and I, along with our four children (one of whom has special needs), are planning a long-term move to Thailand in early 2026. Our son with special needs will be receiving stem cell therapy in Bangkok, and we hope to settle down long-term near Jomtien Beach, Pattaya.
During his therapy sessions, I’ll be traveling with him to Bangkok for a week at a time, while the rest of the family stays in Pattaya.
My wife is a disabled U.S. veteran and receives a guaranteed monthly income of about USD 4,500 (~166,000 THB). We can provide full documentation of this income, along with supporting bank statements.
We’re currently trying to figure out the best visa pathway for a family of six that:
1️⃣ Accommodates dependents (spouse + children),
2️⃣ Doesn’t require a large upfront 3-month bank deposit, and
3️⃣ Allows long-term residence with minimal renewal hassle.
If anyone here has experience with family moves like this — or can recommend a reliable visa agent or immigration lawyer who handles complex family or medical cases — we’d really appreciate your advice 🙏
Thank you all for your time and any recommendations you can share ❤️
Quick question: I'm applying for a DTV visa from Germany and then flying to Bangkok with a one-way ticket and on to Chiang Mai. Do I actually need a return ticket? The officials can see in the system that I have a long-term visa, right?
Hi all 🙏🏻❤️ so lm looking to return to Thailand but would like a longer visa I’m doing some Padi courses and will be there longer than the normal what are my options Any advice would be great. Peace and love to all 🙏🏻
Hi. I have Bangkok bank with over 800 000,- and I am going to search for non OA visa. I am 53 and my question is which health insurance should I get? I have checked one AIA and will cost me 35000 baht.
For those who are here on the DTV and had their bank accounts closed, what are the options to get a new bank account if you are under 50? If they refuse to open new accounts to people on tourist visas (DTV included), is the only option to either get married or simply buy the Elite visa? I cant imagine living here without a bank account so trying to find a solution to this. Buying the elite visa just for a bank account is not a good option.
What are my best long term visas I should look into? I will be late 30s, from USA, fully retired living off my long term investments. Have no remote work nor plan or want to work at all. Is DTV soft power a good option? I don’t want to have to do cooking classes or Muay Thai every week for 5 years(though may end up doing Muay Thai anyways)
Should I just shell out the cash and get the elite?
Obviously once I hit 50 I will switch to retirement visa but need something for the next 11-12 years
