Hi all, has anyone recently finished one year of education visa in Thailand and then tried to return to Thailand on a tourist visa within a few weeks/one month of leaving? Wondering if there is any anecdotal evidence about how immigration officers are responding to this at various borders. Thanks so much in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the experiences of individuals who transitioned from an education visa (ED Visa) to a tourist visa shortly after leaving Thailand. Responses vary, with some suggesting that recent travelers might face scrutiny upon returning, potentially being questioned about their finances and travel plans. Others report smooth re-entries with no significant issues, indicating varied experiences based on individual circumstances and possibly the immigration officer's discretion.

I did this last week, only went to Hong Kong for a few days and returned. They didn’t ask me anything, but I did go through the Thai citizen immigration Que with my Thai gf.

Also, this might be anecdotal but from my experience the male offices seem to be more chill than the females.

I had no problem. I left Thailand in May 2023 (had an Ed Visa), and return to Thailand a month later in June 2023 on a Visa-Exempt. No questions asked.

That's not likely to end well. At the bare minimum you're likely to be pulled out of line and grilled for 1-2 hours, asked to show proof of funds, proof of lodging and proof of onward travel. At worst you'll be denied entry.
