By asking 2 questions I got the answer to yours is one minute or thereabouts and I already knew the answers. 'Do Canadians need a visa for Japan/ Do Canadians need a visa for Singapore? the answer for both is no and the same applies for Thais. Japan is expensive and not worth 3 or 4 days let alone 2 weeks. Universal Studios in Singapore are wonderful. ANA are the best for travel. way better than AC.

Am I noy inderstanding something here? As I understand it US ,Canadian Citizens and a lot more are supposed to be using the Evisa system in the Country that issued their passports? Been no problem for me so why couldn't the guy apply on line from Taiwan?

You will need a visa for Portugal and possibly transit visas depending on which Airport you will be flying throught to get there as there are no direct flights to Lisbon etc from BKK.
