could be. I may try an email to them later and see what they say about a UK passport holder obtaining one there. Its a bit of a journey and the need to get an Australian visa to get knocked back.

wasn't there a recent post that Perth and I believe, Melbourne now require residency in order to get a METV? I believe a copy of the email from Perth was posted.

i did in the link James posted above. It was the same OP in that thread.

I'm going to have a guess that the most he can stretch the travel documents for will be for 90 days.

We did this before. They require (The Evisa application) a flight into and out of Thailand.

Ok I have just checked on the E visa page. It will select the number of days stay automatically when you input your arrival to and departure from Thailand dates. I'm not sure what will happen with the application when you fill the complete page with detail then move on.

I'm out in the car so don't have time now to do a complete dummy application.
