FYI

French members and anybody applying for visas in France, kindly note the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris moves to online only visa application from 17th June.

The Lyon consulate closes it's door for ever on the 19th June.

All visa applications in France will then need to be via the Paris Embassy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Royal Thai Embassy in Paris has transitioned to an online-only visa application system starting June 17. Meanwhile, the consulate in Lyon will permanently close on June 19, requiring all visa applications to be handled through the Paris Embassy. Several comments express frustrations with the Paris consulate's process, particularly with specific visa types like the O-A visa which requires funds to be in a Thai bank account.

that is easily the most NOT user friendly thai consulate in the entire EU. They have wacky rules and regulations about almost every visa type they sell. I'd say avoid them if you can..

Yes, they're bloody horrible. I wish I could avoid them but as a French citizen living in Paris, I have no other choice but jumping through whatever hoops they come up with (which often vary from one year to the next. Never a dull moment, ha!).🤪

@Tod ********
unfortunately you are right and as Algerian we have no other choice 😥

Thanks for the info.

No worries, I'm French so I understood it all. It's just the fact that despite the new hightech ways, some things never change

At least they explain in detail how it works and what the plans are worldwide for E visa application.

'Do all Thai Embassies and consular offices around the world already use E-visa? I translated and pasted below from the Embassy website

Not yet. In order to try and evaluate the various aspects, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, for now, chosen some pilot offices to test the E-visa.

Being the first Embassy chosen, the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing started the E-visa system on February 15, 2019. The other Consulates in China will follow in late April 2019 or early May 2019.

The third group of Embassies to use the E-visa will be the Thai Embassy in Paris and London on June 17, 2019.

Indeed, if all goes well, the ultimate goal is that all Embassies and Consulates can use the E-visa'.

In any case, it is reassuring that their written French is just as bad as always, lol!

Sorry, looked but didn't see the E-Visa thingy... Then again, I am vision impaired which doesn't help 😂 Apologies

Yes they have some wacky ways.

Applying for an O-A Visa in Paris for instance, the money needs to be in a Thai bank account and not in France.

Good luck with Paris, I found it easier to fly from Paris to Malaysia to get it done then to deal with them
