I thought about posting something similar here a few months ago. I received a phone call from a salesperson with a really thick British accent. He explained he was selling insurance to expats in Thailand. I asked him how he got my number and he said he actually didn't know and they are just handed a list of people to call. The only problem with that is... My number is registered in my wife's name as she bought it a few years ago while I was on route to Thailand so it would be ready for me at the airport. This guy called me by name and the only 2 places that have my name with this number are immigration and my bank so obviously someone is sharing data.
