E visa applications applying for O-A Visa 2nd time applications at the Paris Thai Embassy.

This ONLY applies at this time to French Passport holders applying in France.

Second time applications for this visa, it is now mandatory and require 800,000 baht to be brought in to a Thai bank account. So anybody already holding an O-A visa obtained in France MUST now bring the money in to a Thai bank account in order to get a new O-A in France. The income method is no longer possible for these 2nd time applications.

Here is the translation

Visa OA (Long stay)

Nonimmigrant Visa OA

The Visa OA is intended for retired people over the age of 50.

This type of visa does not allow working and gives the right to stay in Thailand for one year with multiple entries. For each entry, if the stay exceeds 3 months, the holder must report to the immigration service. The holder of this visa may extend it to the immigration service.

Attention: from the 2nd request of this type of visa to the Embassy, a bank deposit of 800 000 baht in a bank in Thailand is mandatory, and to present in the form of a recent certificate or a bank book well updated (less than a month)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent updates from the Thai Embassy in France state that French passport holders applying for the O-A Visa for the second time must now bring an 800,000 baht bank deposit into a Thai bank account. Previously, income verification was an option, but it is no longer acceptable for second applications. This visa is aimed at retirees over 50 years of age, allowing a yearly stay with multiple entries, yet the holder must report to immigration if staying over three months.

And so far this is only a requirement at the Thai Embassy in France. i agree that computers and on-line system will be more and more used, but let us not make assumptions and conclusions about the next steps of requirements of the Royal Thai Immigration Bureau. There are more than enough people upset already with the ongoing enforcement on back to back Visa Exempt Entry, Tourist Visa and ED visa. I can not handle another group panicking about back to back Non Immigrant O-A visa's.

I suppose we should eventually, be prepared for a similar change when a second application is submitted at the UK Embassy. Is the writing on the wall?

Geoff Nolan it certainly needs keep an eyeing on and how your particularly Embassy are doing things.

The E visa application website put an across the board change in this week of the need to show an employer or income or pension this week for ALL visa classes. I would guess the Paris change is the start of putting a stop on the workaround of continually obtaining long term visas and not bringing the money in to Thailand.

Paris though are a law unto themselves. Just need to see what transpires.
