TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers to Thailand should be prepared to carry cash, as highlighted by a recent discussion regarding the influx of tourists entering the country and the minimal rate of denied entries.

Let's extrapolate a bit :P

Thailand predicts about 35 MILLION tourist arrivals this year. That's 673 THOUSAND people per week stamping into the country week in week out. That's 96 THOUSAND people per day.

And of that number of people entering the country a whole 13 were denied entry ? WTF? How is this even newsworthy?

Do you know how insignificant of a percentage ALL the people denied entry in a week are in the grand scheme of things?

So no matter what Chicken Little (Henny Penny, Foxy Loxy, Goosey Lucy or anyone else said) the sky is NOT falling..
