Vincent Vanmilingen i paid out plenty for a TE visa BUT I too could be asked to show the funds. On the other hand, I wouldn't think of travelling without that kind of money in my pocket anyway, visa or not.

Things change daily. As I said, you take your chances.
reality is, as I said, apart from Vietiane, they have started to look at what your doing here. The last few weeks, there seems to be refusals from all over the place on the internet. You simply take your chance the more you do it.
it makes no difference who does or doesn't get denied. If they think you've had enough, that's it. Just because somebody else gets one, it has no bearing on your application.
