- I guess you are lucky then. In Cambodia, it is the UK embassy that has been by my account the worst, especially during early days of COVID.

I have lived internationally for 15+ years. One thing that seems almost universal, regardless of your nationality, it is almost impossible to contact your embassy via phone or email. Best option is to show up during consular hours

Unfortunately, tomorrow is a holiday. You are going to have to wait until Tuesday, if your visa doesn’t expire by then.

We are 7 months and 10 days into 2024. You say you have spent 5 months on 2024 in thailand. That is over 68% of the current year. It is hard to know what an immigration officer would do, but you might have more ease if you applied for a visa this time in advance, instead of just arriving under an exemption.

- Yes, so embassies only allow residents and citizens of that geographic area to apply (most of the Thai embassies in Europe are like that).

you can’t apply via Hong Kong’s e-visa portal if you are not physically in Hong Kong. You can scam the system, but risk getting caught

- By the look of the name, they are most likely Mongolian, and therefore, Beijing is the closest consulate

I was freaking out that my handwriting might not be legible after I left 🙂

- Keep us updated once you go. Hope it goes smoothly. Also, make sure your phone number (and email) is clear on the written application. My understanding is that if they need additional documents, etc., they will contact you and inform you. Much better than having to wait the 6 days and learn that they need more, and you then have to stay even longer, just because someone couldnt decipher your hand writing.
