Sorry for the delay in posting about the OX visa we obtained.

How we did it.

The OX visa is a 5 + 5 visa.

This visa can only be applied for whilst you are in Australia.

You need to apply for it online at the Thai Consulate in Sydney

(do not apply for it at the Thai Embassy in Canberra as they have different rules being you must have a Thai bank account)

All visas are now on line, you need to go to their website sydney.thaiembassy.org

Click on visas then scroll down to retirement click on it and scroll down to OX

This is the list of requirements you will need to apply for the visa online.

We printed out this list (does help to have a hard copy)

Then go to the forms link and click on retirement visa forms.

There are 4 pages print this document ( sorry for some reason I couldn’t copy it.

You need these forms printed as there is the application forms and a medical certificate for your doctor to fill out and an Insurance form.

We did our police check on line it has to be federal police it took 5 days to get it in the mail, biggest delay was australia post.

Make sure you get your bank statement done at a bank if possible they like them stamped with a bank stamp and dated.

Once you have everything you need take a copy of them (

Go back on line to the visa category link, clink on retirement visa, then OX vis scroll down and click on apply on line.

It has the link for the Thai pass also.

Once you have applied for it online they will email you if approved and advise you to send the originals and two copies (you need to get these copies certified by a JP. ( we did this as soon as we had applied).

We were approved within 24 hours took all the paperwork and our passports to Australia Post and also got a money order for the visa costs and 3 post paid overnight envelopes which we put our mailing address on it (reason for

3 was we didn’t know if the same person had both of our applications).

We put all the documents and passports etc in the largest envelope got the tracking sticker from the post office staff.

We received an email 2 days saying they have been posted back to us.

It was a really easy procedure as we had everything we needed before we started the application you can’t go back into it.

We copied all forms as jpegs.

Sorry for the long post, hope it helps any questions just ask.

Hello,

How early can you apply for a Covid extension?

My visa expires on the 6th of January, is it too early to do it now?

I read that it can be done 30-45 days before but want to double check. Thank you!
