Wow, you must have applied, received the visa and returned to Thailand pretty quick. The embassy I went through started accepting on July 15th. If you submitted July 15th, results same day and entered Thailand the same day, 180 days would be Jan 20th.

- Every time you re-enter you get a new 6 month stamp. Also, the issue with incorrect data on applications has been discussed many times here and there is even a warning on the application that you have to click, informing that you took the time to double check all cells and once entered, cant be updated.

As you know, the visa only allows you in country 180 days (plus 180-day extension). So even with an extension, you would need to depart Thailand within 360 days. That being said, the system doesnt factor in extensions, so should be within 180 days.

- With all respect, it is good to discuss it here. The original poster did what you highlight and is out 10,000 baht. It is important that people understand the formal policy and that some people have gotten around it, but they need to be aware that there are some risks, so they are not blindsided it it happens. Where/when did you get your DTV?

I have lived in SE Asia for 15 years now. I understand how the country works. It is cheating the system if you apply while in Thailand. It is clearly stated on the e-visa website. Yes, there are ways around it. For example, many countries do not use stamps. Therefore, as an example, if I applied via the US, the documents I would supply as proof I am in the US, are not really that much of proof (bills, driver's license, etc.). Just because it can be done (sometimes not successful), doesn't mean you are not cheating the system.
