Entered Thailand today at BKK from Cambodia. Almost got denied. The IO was concerned with too much travel to Cambodia over the years despite having a condo there and having worked for a company in Phnom Penh. Luckily he was willing to speak to my better-half. Who is Thai and able to fix it. My next trip out of Thailand I was told can not be Cambodia. This is despite having had trips throughout my passport during the same period for Korea. Japan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka. Singapore, Central Asia, and Europe.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat faced scrutiny while re-entering Thailand from Cambodia due to frequent travel history. While the immigration officer raised concerns about repeated visits to Cambodia, other travelers reported no issues with similar routes. Discussions also highlighted potential travel restrictions influenced by national security perceptions, and suggestions included obtaining a second passport for problematic destinations.
I arrived from Cambodia to BKK early this morning. No issues at all, quick stamp and out of there. I go to Cambodia every couple of months. Never had an issue
hi, did you stay in bkk for >120days between each travel? or just a few weeks and then travel again out of thailand? (idk why my comment become annonymous and I cant see where to fix it on fb app!?)
Maybe this officer has a bug up his @rse about the Cambodian-Thai conflict going on right now 🤷🏽♂️ I doubt you will get this trouble from every immigration official.
LivelyChipmunk2303 Why not? Their country, their rules. I know someone who was denied an ESTA for USA because they had previously travelled to Iran. It happens.
Anonymous participant 263 that has nothing to do with the DTV, the officer reaction was based on the conflict with Cambodge and I do not see any issues with this. If you are at war with a country where somebody come from, it is perfectly normal that there is increased scrutinity.
Anonymous participant 263 only people who were not learning had problems with ED visa. I guess you are one of these - so - good they catched you. Just like with DTV only people who are not learning (boxing or other stuff) or working (workation) will have problems - and well - its kind of normal for people that want to avoid system to have problems with system. 😉
You were lucky with the Ed Visa. That's not happening anymore.
Now...it's important to stay in the country and attend the course of study for the Ed visa.
Travel outside of Thailand during the term of the Ed Visa likely will be a Red flag for you when you return to Thailand... with many getting Denied entry.
