When I renewed my lease last year the Rental Agency advised me to go to Immigration. When I went the girl at the TM30 desk told me that there is no need to report because my address hasn't changed. This was in Chiang Mai.
True but they must doing something right everybody wants to stay here and people who aren’t here are crying to get in. If you have family here I totally understand and sympathize, but many don’t .
My plan was to switch from from an O-A to an O Visa this year. An agent told me this year just do what you have to do to comply with the O-A requirements and hopefully next year everything is back to normal and make the switch then.
They are currently talking with Malaysia. They would like to set up Covid Free Zones in both Countries. One in Penang where you could fly out and as long as you stay in the restricted area you will be able to fly back to Thailand. Nothing will probably happen till October. As far as general tourists presently they are not even considering it yet. When it happens they will look at it one country at a time . I was told it will be done very very slowly.
I guess whatever the cost of the visa is and of course add on the cost of your schooling for the next six months or 12 . It’s what ever option you prefer. It is an Ed VISA and that means you have to attend class three times a week. The cost of the Class was not over inflated. It was just their regular fee.
This was from a very reputable school in Chiang Mai. I also saw somewhere else that immigration where making special concessions for Ed Visas for a very limited time .
If you are on an expired tourist visa schools for a limited time can process the Ed Visa in Thailand. They have to be approved before the amnesty is up so you may be a little late now as my previous school informed me in an email mid June that it can take from 4 to 6 weeks for the application to be approved. They said at the time if this is something you’re interested in do it now. You can always talk to an approved school and see what they say.
