What should I know about filing a 90-day report as an expat in Thailand on an O-A Visa?

Arrived from Canada on a O-A Visa Feb.11 so haven't done a 90 day report yet. Living in Chiang Mai but not tied into any lease . Am thinking of moving out of my Condo and taking a trip down south for month of April will probably be returning to Chiang Mai first of May when my 90 day report is due. Will most likely be staying in different hotels or small resorts for month of April.

Is there any thing I have to be aware of for immigration or di I just show up at an office no matter where I am when my 90 day report is due. Thank you in advance for any info. Just a newbie here so still trying to figure all these different TM-30/TM-28 immigration requirements out. Actually not even sure what a TM-28 is. Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has arrived in Chiang Mai on an O-A Visa and is seeking clarification on the 90-day reporting requirements, especially since they are planning to travel around Thailand without being tied to a single address. Comments clarify that the user can do their 90-day report in Chiang Mai without updating their address while traveling, as long as they have the appropriate TM-30 registration from their accommodations in place when submitting the report.

You mentioned that your address at the condo is registered at Immigration in Chang Mai. Chang Mai only wants an update if you go abroad. You are free to visit other parts of Thailand without updating your address on return in Chang Mai. This means you can do the 90 day report without problems.

The TM.30 is where your landlord registers you as staying at their property. Every hotel you check in to will automatically register you in the TM.30 database when you check in.

When you file your 90 day report, they will want the address you are staying at registered in the TM.30 database. If you don't have an official TM.30 receipt in your passport, or a copy of the last registration from the online booking system with you, they may want you to get an official TM.30 receipt before you do your 90 day report.

I believe the TM.28 is for extensions if stay and doesn't apply in your case. There is no firm or paperwork to do a 90 day report.

You file the TM30, as long as you keep that as your main address, you can travel around. As soon as you change address, moving to other condo or house, you or landlord file a new TM30. Just for short visits to other addresses, stay with friends overnight, hotel visits etc you have to do nothing in Chang Mai. There is no booklet as almost every Immigration Office inside Thailand does enforce this rule on their own way.

As long as a TM-30 is filled out am I OK or do I need to fill out a TM-28 every time I move.I have only been here two months so really haven't settled on a permanent place to live yet. I find it so confusing and I really can't find any concrete info on immigration website. Do they have booklet at immigration with a simple breakdown of these forms are and how to use them. I know once you get in the system and understand whats required its probably not that hard.

Brad Melrose The from used to make a 90 day report is the TM47 Form for Alien to Notify of Staying Longer than 90 days, the TM28 is the form for Aliens to Notify their Change of Address or Stay in a Province for more than 24 hours (TM.28). For an Extension of Stay you use Application for Extension of Temporary Stay in The Kingdom (TM.7)

Sid Humby I don't know how sticky the Chiang Mai office is on TM.30s, but they may make you get an official TM.30 receipt. Get a letter from the hotel/condo saying you're staying there with the full address. If immigration requires an official TM.30 receipt, you can get it at immigration for free with the letter if indeed the hotel/condo registered you. Immigration may not make you jump through that hoop.

OK Thank You . I don't have that but I stayed at a reputable hotel and they told me they did. Also the Condo That I moved to from there confirmed to me that they did one. I also have all my rental receipts .

I'm on the same visa as you, when I did my 90 day report, I had a screenshot of the website where the rental agent filed my TM.30 online and the agent accepted that then processed my 90 day report.

OK Thank you that won't be a problem as I always make sure that that is done no matter where I stay.

A TM 30 should have been filed with Chiang Mai Immigration within 24 hours of your arrival into Chiang Mai
