This was from a very reputable school in Chiang Mai. I also saw somewhere else that immigration where making special concessions for Ed Visas for a very limited time .
If you are on an expired tourist visa schools for a limited time can process the Ed Visa in Thailand. They have to be approved before the amnesty is up so you may be a little late now as my previous school informed me in an email mid June that it can take from 4 to 6 weeks for the application to be approved. They said at the time if this is something you’re interested in do it now. You can always talk to an approved school and see what they say.
Yes you are correct. I just checked the email they sent me and the only ed visa they can now issue for people without leaving the country is for people who where on tourist visas and are now on amnesty. They said it can take 4 to 6 weeks and the Ed visa has to be issued before amnesty is up. So they were suggesting people apply right away. I received the email in mid June.
There are 2 good schools in Pontip Plaza Chiang Mai. One is called “We Learn Thai” and the other is “TSL”. TSL is who I received the email from. They are on the 3rd floor. There office will be open again on July 1st. They probably have a Facebook page.
Find a good Thai language school and talk to them. Should do it right away because it can take up to 4 weeks to process the visa. It has to be completed before amnesty is up.
Ok Thank You Tod. Right now I am a month into my 2nd year of an OA visa. So last month I left Thailand then returned flying into Chiang Mai and was stamped in for my second year.
Thank you I guess that just answers the question. My visa expires on Jan. 17. So according to that when I get my 2nd year extension of stay based on the original visa I will need insurance.
